Evernote is a note-taking program that is used to take notes and to create, gather and organize other information. The ‘note’ specified in the name, can relate to a simple piece of text (formatted) an image, such as a photograph, a voice recording or a webpage. The notes created using Evernote can then be tagged, notated and organized into folders. They can be commented upon and, once the notes have been stored and organized, users can use a built-in search function to search through them.
Evernote is compatible with a huge number of Operating Systems, it works with Microsoft Windows (including the Windows mobile Operating System) BlackBerry (and BlackBerry Tablet), Android, Mac, iOS, webOS and Google Chrome. Evernote was first released in 2008 and in three years it was being used by over ten million users all over the world. Evernote is available in two versions, a paid and full version, or a trialware version that users can download and use for free with a number of limitations.
